A city of innovation

At a time when an ageing population and the pandemic serve as reminders of the wellness and health issues facing society today, Grand Nancy is renowned for its many resources in these areas.

These include three clinical research centres, a first-class health education programme, as well as the presence of major organisations (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, French National Centre for Scientific Research, Nancy Regional University Hospital, Lorraine Institute of Oncology, etc.) and state-of-the-art businesses such as Equasens, Inotrem, Genclis, Plant Advanced Technologies, etc.

The region also has a good standing in areas of medical excellence such as cardiovascular, medical imaging, metabolic ageing and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

A leading thermal ecosystem

Due to its exceptional location at the heart of Greater Nancy, Nancy Thermal benefits from the presence of the University of Lorraine, Nancy Regional University Hospital, Lorraine Institute of Physiotherapy Training, health schools and private medical practitioners and healthcare professionals.

At European level, Nancy Thermal is the only thermal spa resort with innovative therapies and equipment supported by the commitment of the region’s healthcare professionals, in an innovative space dedicated to research and state-of-the-art practices known as TS2: Therma-Sport and Therma-Santé.

On the strength of this leading health ecosystem, and together with its partners, Greater Nancy aims to help develop thermal medicine to recommend new protocols, new treatment programmes and new indications.

In this regard, clinical studies have already been designed to find innovative solutions, making Nancy Thermal a significant contributor to the advances of clinical research for public health promotion and prevention. Conferences bringing together universities specialising in balneotherapy, organised in Nancy, under the patronage of the French National Academy of Medicine, have provided the opportunity to demonstrate the educational and research potential of the region.
